Day Camp at the YMCA of McHenry County is
designed to give your child a memorable and rewarding experience. Day Camp is
available to all campers ages 6-13 in one one-week sessions beginning June
8th-August 21st, 2009
Throughout the day campers will participate
in a variety of specialized and group activities. Specialized activities occur
twice weekly and include arts & crafts, outdoor education, sports, and our
newest program Character Development. Campers will also swim everyday except
Thursdays which are field trip days. To add excitement to each session a weekly
theme will be announced every Monday morning and this theme will culminate in a
camp-wide special event on Fridays.
Each
camp day begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 4:00 PM. Our extended care program is
available to all families at no additional charge. Parents may drop their
children off as early as 6:30 AM and pick them up no later than 6:00 PM. While
less structured than our typical camp day, campers will be well supervised and
remain engaged throughout the program.
Campers are divided into
groups by grade in order to provide appropriate activities at every level. Our
staff to camper ratio is 1:10 and campers are under the care of college-aged
staff at all times. Staff work closely with campers to promote a spirit of
teamwork, cooperation, and respect.
Character Development is key
at the YMCA of McHenry County. Everything we do focuses on Four Core Values:
Honesty, Caring, Respect, and Responsibility. These values make up our character
and become the foundation for decision-making that guides behavior. They
comprise the basics of who we are, how we live and how we treat people. All
campers and staff will be expected to uphold these values throughout the summer.
