Day Camp at the YMCA of McHenry County is designed to give your child a memorable and rewarding experience. Day Camp is available to all campers ages 6-13 in one one-week sessions beginning June 9th-August 15th, 2008

Throughout the day campers will participate in a variety of specialized and group activities. Specialized activities occur twice weekly and include arts & crafts, outdoor education, sports, and our newest program Character Development. Campers will also swim everyday except Wednesdays which are field trip days. To add excitement to each session a weekly theme will be announced every Monday morning and this theme will culminate in a camp-wide special event on Fridays.

Each camp day begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 4:00 PM. Our extended care program is available to all families at no additional charge. Parents may drop their children off as early as 6:30 AM and pick them up no later than 6:00 PM. While less structured than our typical camp day, campers will be well supervised and remain engaged throughout the program.

Campers are divided into groups by grade in order to provide appropriate activities at every level. Our staff to camper ratio is 1:10 and campers are under the care of college-aged staff at all times. Staff work closely with campers to promote a spirit of teamwork, cooperation, and respect.

Character Development is key at the YMCA of McHenry County. Everything we do focuses on Four Core Values: Honesty, Caring, Respect, and Responsibility. These values make up our character and become the foundation for decision-making that guides behavior. They comprise the basics of who we are, how we live and how we treat people. All campers and staff will be expected to uphold these values throughout the summer.
